游宇博士现任厦门大学公共事务学院教授、博士生导师，兼任公共管理系副系主任（主持工作）、厦门大学财政科研所财政政治学研究室主任。他的研究方向包括以下三个方面：
财政制度、公共资源分配与国家治理能力：
这一方向关注财政制度如何塑造国家治理结构、政府间关系和地方政府行为。具体议题包括中央—地方财政关系、地方政府债务、土地财政与土地金融、财政转移支付、预算政治以及公共资源配置等。相关研究从财政社会学和比较政治经济学视角出发，将财政制度理解为国家组织权力、分配责任、动员资源和管理冲突的重要制度基础，重点分析财政压力、激励结构和制度约束如何共同影响地方治理能力及其治理后果。
资源约束下的公众政策偏好与分配政治：
这一方向关注公众如何在资源有限和政策目标相互竞争的条件下形成政策偏好与分配判断。具体议题包括公众对税收、政府责任、公共支出、社会保障、市场竞争、政府债务和财产税等问题的态度，以及不同社会群体如何理解增长、稳定、公平和风险之间的权衡。相关研究结合政治心理、调查数据和实验方法，分析制度环境、社会经历、经济处境和政治认知如何影响公众对公共资源分配的评价。
比较政治研究中的案例方法、理论建构与因果机制：
这一方向关注如何通过案例研究推进社会科学理论建构和因果解释。具体议题包括案例内分析、过程追踪、多案例比较、理论化案例选择、机制识别以及定性研究设计的规范化表达。相关研究强调案例研究不只是经验 材料的呈现，而是连接理论问题、机制推理和经验识别的重要方法工具，致力于提升比较政治和公共管理研究中定性方法的解释力与可累积性。
招生信息：期待招收对比较政治、政治经济学以及公共管理具有浓厚兴趣，并愿意围绕重要理论问题开展长期研究的硕士生和博士生。尤其欢迎具有 Tilly 所倡导的 big structures, large processes, and huge comparisons 式研究志趣的同学：不满足于对具体政策或局部现象的描述，而是尝试从国家治理、制度变迁、政治经济结构与长期历史过程出发提出具有理论意义的问题，并通过比较研究推进理论建构。同时，希望申请者具备分析微观数据（如社会调查、实验数据等）的基本能力和一定的计量建模基础，能够熟练使用 Stata、R、Python 等数据分析工具。尤其期待具有较强问题意识和理论兴趣，愿意将宏观理论建构与严谨经验分析结合起来的同学加入。
Yu You is a Professor and PhD supervisor in the School of Public Affairs at Xiamen University. He serves as Deputy Chair of the Department of Public Administration and Director of the Fiscal Politics Research Division at Xiamen University’s Institute of Public Finance. His research centers on three interrelated areas: fiscal institutions, public resource allocation, and state capacity; public policy preferences and distributive politics under resource constraints; and case-study methods, theory-building, and causal mechanisms in comparative politics. Drawing on fiscal sociology, comparative political economy, political psychology, and qualitative methodology, his work explores how fiscal institutions organize authority and resources, how citizens evaluate policy trade-offs, and how case-based research contributes to causal explanation and theory development.
Prospective Students: Professor You welcomes applications from prospective MA and PhD students with strong interests in public administration, comparative politics, and political economy. He is particularly interested in working with students who share a Tilly-inspired interest in big structures, large processes, and huge comparisons. This orientation emphasizes moving beyond the description of specific policies or localized phenomena to ask theoretically consequential questions about state governance, institutional change, political-economic structures, and long-term processes, while using comparative inquiry to develop and refine theory. Prospective students should also have some experience working with micro-level data, such as survey or experimental data, a foundation in quantitative methods, and familiarity with analytical tools such as Stata, R, or Python. Students who combine theoretical ambition and problem-driven inquiry with rigorous empirical analysis are especially encouraged to apply.
