Currently, TANG Lizhi serves as a full-time Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at the School of Economics, Xiamen University. Equipped with a Ph.D. in Science from East China Normal University and a visiting scholar experience in the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability at the National University of Singapore, he is also the Deputy Director of the Domestic Cooperation Office and the Director of the Research Center for Wisdom and Green Development at Xiamen University.


His primary research interests encompass machine learning, causal inference, resource and environmental statistics, and the digital economy. Beyond these theoretical realms, he possesses profound consulting and operational experience in practical domains, such as local government project planning and strategy formulation, as well as corporate overseas investments. He is an ardent advocate of interdisciplinary research, fostering collaborations across various disciplines.


His academic contributions are what can be seen, with over 50 published research papers in prestigious Chinese journals like "Statistical Research" and "Quantitative Economics and Technical Economics Research," and in renowned SCI-indexed English journals such as "Cities," "Journal of Hazardous Materials," and "Journal of Environmental Management." He has independently authored three academic monographs. From 2013 to 2023, he has independently led over 10 scientific research projects funded by various levels of government and institutions, including the National Social Science Fund Project, Humanities and Social Sciences Project of the Ministry of Education, the Key Project of National Statistics Science, and key provincial projects in Fujian. Furthermore, he has directed over 50 consulting projects commissioned by governments at different levels, with many of his research outcomes being directly adopted and implemented by local governments, yielding significant economic and social impacts.


At School of Economics of Xiamen University, he actively mentors and nurtures postdoctoral fellows, doctoral candidates, and master's students in fields like statistics, national economics, and quantitative economics. His guidance has yielded outstanding results, with his students being recognized with prestigious awards such as the Fujian Provincial Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award.
