Zhen Ye leads research in Infrastructure Economics and Finance at University College London (UCL), with a focus on data-driven analysis of infrastructure financing, investment modelling, engineering, operations, and economic development. A member of UCL's Infrastructure Systems Institute and former Programme Director of the MSc Infrastructure Investment and Finance at the Bartlett School, he brings a multidisciplinary perspective to both research and teaching. He also holds a Chair Professorship at Xiamen University, and has served as a Senior Adviser to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), providing advisory services to government ministries in Bhutan, Egypt, Pakistan, and China.

His academic credentials include a PhD in Applied Economics, an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and an extensive record of scholarly and professional leadership in private equity, risk management, and higher education. His research focuses on capital markets, infrastructure investment, and risk modelling for strategic decision-making to strengthen global economic resilience. He is a member of the Royal Economic Society and the European Finance Association. His work has been published across more than 40 articles in both English and Chinese academic journals, including the International Review of Financial Analysis, International Journal of Production Economics, Energy Economics, Annals of Operations Research, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Journal of Management in Engineering, Journal of Cleaner Production, Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, Land Use Policy, Journal of Xiamen University, and Modern Management Research.
