Zhong Wei is currently a Distinguished Professor at the Wang Yanan Institute of Economics and the Department of Statistics and Data Science, School of Economics at Xiamen University, serving as the department head and doctoral supervisor. He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from Pennsylvania State University in 2012, and was promoted to associate professor and full professor in 2014 and 2017, respectively. He was selected as a young talent in the Nanqiang Youth Program at Xiamen University (2018), a recipient of the National Natural Science Foundation's Outstanding Youth Fund (2019), a recipient of the Fujian Provincial Distinguished Youth Fund (2019), and Ministry of Education Changjiang Scholars Distinguished Professor (2024). His main research interests include high-dimensional statistical analysis, econometrics, and applied statistics. He has served as an editorial board member (Associate Editor) for several journals including the Journal of the American Statistical Association (JASA, 2023-now), the International Statistical Review (ISR, 2024-now), the Canadian Journal of Statistics (CJS, 2019-2021), SADM (2018-now), STARF (2024-now), and the Journal of Economic Management (Chinese, 2023-now). He has published (including accepted) about 50 papers in domestic and international statistical journals such as the Annals of Statistics, Journal of the American Statistical Association, Biometrika, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Machine Learning Research, Journal of Business & Economic Statistics, Biometrics, Annals of Applied Statistics, Statistica Sinica, and Science in China Mathematics, among others, with two papers selected as highly cited papers in the top 1% of ESI. He won the first prize in the Xiamen University's 5th English Teaching Competition in 2016, the first prize in the 15th Young Teacher Skills Competition at Xiamen University in 2020, the first prize in the Fourth National Graduate Teaching Achievement Award in Applied Statistics in 2020, one of the "Top Ten Favorite Teachers Students Love" at Xiamen University in 2020, the first prize in the Xiamen University Teaching Innovation Competition in 2021, the second prize in Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation Young Scientist Award for Higher Education Institutions in 2022 etc.
